Noting that she is glad Thackeray is better and asking Williams to tell her if Thackeray gives his opinion of Shirley; mentioning that George Henry Lewes does not like the opening chapter of Shirley; describing her feeling, based on people's reactions to her, that she "no longer walk[s] invisible" and is known as the author of Jane Eyre; discounting a negative review of Shirley as "unutterably false."
